Shelan grew up on a farm in the Innisfail area and was actively involved in both Beef and Light Horse 4-H clubs. Growing up she was always bringing home different critters from the Odd and Unusual sale and knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Zooolgy at the University of Calgary she moved to Saskatoon and graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. After graduation, Shelan worked in a mixed animal practice in Ponoka for three and a half years. Following that, she moved to Stony Plain and has worked in small animal clinics in both Stony Plain and Edmonton. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and values building relationships with her clients and working together to help improve the lives of their pets. In her spare time, Shelan and her husband are kept busy with her their two active children and their Rhodesian Ridgeback, Stella. Shelan enjoys camping, hiking, traveling, yoga and curling up with a good book.
