Born and raised in St. Albert, Erika attended the University of Alberta’s Animal Health program before being accepted into the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. Throughout her time in vet school Erika discovered a passion for a wide variety of medical disciplines including emergency and critical care, internal medicine, and small ruminant practice.

In her free time Erika enjoys spending time with her family, reading a good book, being outdoors, and practicing yoga. Although she loves all animals, she has a soft spot in her heart for her childhood cat, Lily, and her newly adopted cat, Lucky Pants. She is delighted to be back living in Alberta and starting her career with the team at Tri-Municipal.

Shelan grew up on a farm in the Innisfail area and was actively involved in both Beef and Light Horse 4-H clubs. Growing up she was always bringing home different critters from the Odd and Unusual sale and knew from a very young age that she wanted to be a veterinarian. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Zooolgy at the University of Calgary she moved to Saskatoon and graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. After graduation, Shelan worked in a mixed animal practice in Ponoka for three and a half years. Following that, she moved to Stony Plain and has worked in small animal clinics in both Stony Plain and Edmonton. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine and values building relationships with her clients and working together to help improve the lives of their pets. In her spare time, Shelan and her husband are kept busy with her their two active children and their Rhodesian Ridgeback, Stella. Shelan enjoys camping, hiking, traveling, yoga and curling up with a good book.

Dr. Julianne Lavoie, originally from Saskatoon, SK, has harboured a deep passion for working with animals since childhood, leading her to pursue a fulfilling career in veterinary medicine. Her early experiences included spending summers at her grandparents’ dairy farm in St. Isidore, AB, and participating in the Sask Valley Dairy 4-H Club, which sparked her interest in the field. She earned her degree in Animal Bioscience from the University of Saskatchewan and went on to graduate from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 2024.

Julianne has a particular fondness for small animals, especially cats and dogs, and thrives on the challenges presented in mixed animal practice. Her areas of interest include internal medicine and surgery, and she is keen on expanding her expertise in ultrasonography.

When she’s not working, Julianne enjoys experimenting with new cooking recipes, hiking, reading, and playing the piano. She cherishes the time spent with her two beloved cats, Tula and Cleo, and values the moments of relaxation they provide.
